A Simple Favor
What could possibly go wrong?
We have some fresh new intro music and we are back after our almost five month hiatus.
Because it was so long since I watched this movie, I decided to watch it again right before recording. What's great about A Simple Favor is that much like with Sixth Sense or other sleuth type movies, you can appreciate more on the second viewing.
This was an unexpected, dark and sexy comedy that stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, and I can see why Madison not only loves it, but had to buy it for herself.
We included a French secret word for you to find this time, because of all the trippy French music used in the movie. Also, the "On This Date" history fact actually fits quite well into A Simple Favor. Hint, it has to do with Napoleon.
Here's some of the highlights from the show:
Madison's dad simply loves Anna Kendrick
There's a weird high school vibe with this one
Loved Stephanie's Vlog
Funerals make people horny
Blake Lively has some nods to her hubby, we think
Beaver abounds
Anyway, that should be enough to pique your interest. So, please give it a listen and make sure you tell your friends to check us out, and remember, we will be recording my #HePick next. All my clues for the next movie are in this podcast.

The Not My Favreau Lion King
Just watch The Lion King, not The Favreau Lion King - unless you haven't seen The Lion King. And then, still, just watch The Lion King instead of this lesser version!

Detective Pikachu
It's another very special episode of The Film Grouch Show, where Madison and I included our son, Raphael to the cast. He is a dedicated fan of Pokemon and we had a great time with this one, and for some reason we kept getting interrupted by one troublesome Pokemon, but don't let that stop you from listening.
Some stuff we discuss:
How did they get Ryan Reynolds to agree to this movie?
It's nearly impossible to tell that these little monsters aren't real!
What would our world look like if they were real?
Which Pokemon would you pair up with?
Question for my cop friends, is it illegal to wear a human skull on your face?
Why are some people such jerks in movie theaters?
So, make sure you tell your friends to check us out, and remember, we will be recording Madison's #ShePick next. Thankfully, she didn't pick a terrible chick flick!

Episode 9: Color Me Crazy!
Monday May 13, 2019
Monday May 13, 2019
Color of Night (1994)
This was my latest #HePick - where I obviously tortured poor Madison by forcing her to watch this Bruce Willis, Scott Bakula, Jane March forgotten twisty flick that tries so hard to be hip and noirish that most people cringe the whole way through.
But, not me, it's actually one of my favorite little messed up masterpieces.
Some stuff we discuss:
Maxim Magazine said this movie had the best sex scenes in cinema!
Was that really Bruce Willis' peen?
Brad Dourif makes any movie better.
Why don't cyclists wear those painter hats anymore?
Awkward sex games...
Going color blind
Some of the best furniture in any film ever!
Madison gives clues about her #ShePick

Avengers Endgame
This was a very special episode of The Film Grouch Show. Because for the first time ever, we included my son, the soon to be world renown, Raphael.
Not only is he a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he actually taught Madison and I a few things we didn't know!
Before you listen to this episode, I must say this right now - THIS EPISODE IS FULL OF SPOILERS! If you listen to this episode, you acknowledge you've been warned.
Some stuff we discuss:
Character growth
Time travel
Cameos you might have missed
Favorite scenes
Scenes we didn't like - not many, of course
When to pee - just freakin' hold it!
Hulk . . . smash?
Where do we go from here?
I finally reveal my #HePick

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
Back in 1999, we weren't afraid to both offend and to be offended. What happened to us? Maybe this movie was the final straw in decency. Well, that was what Matt Stone and Trey Parker were banking on - but then the world just shrugged and laughed. And this movie won several awards, was nominated for an Academy Award and had an all star cast. But it was beyond disgusting and as filthy as they come. Naturally, we loved it!
Some stuff we discuss:
The importance of free speech
Movie intermissions - for or against?
Should we care if Canada killed the Baldwins?
What's wrong with Skeet Ulrich and German people?
Is Cam from Modern Family just a ripoff of Satan?
Remember Mr. Hat?
We try some terrible Japanese candy from Tate's Comics

Episode 6: Go Flash Go!
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Flash Gordon
A weird 1980 movie saved by Queen's riffs and insanely good costumes!
In this episode, I finally convinced my wife to watch one of my all time favorite cheesy, cult-classics. You'll have to hear how I finally worked with the folks at Pandora to seamlessly convince her it was all her idea.
We bring back our world famous Word-of-the-day and On-this-Day-In-History bits, and I rediscover a mystery that still haunts us locals of Fort Lauderdale.
I also introduce our newest bit, the He Picks/She Picks. Since this was a He Pick, Madison teases what our next episode will be by dropping some major clues. Can you guess?
Finally, we pay tribute to Alex Trebek - get will, fine sir!
Some stuff we discuss:
Fantasy casting
The traumatizing scenes of my youth
Why does Flash wear that shirt?
Fighting on the set
Would you take Ming's deal?
A world without Star Wars!

Captain Marvel - Review by Rick Swift
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
Does Brie Larson shit the bed in Captain Marvel?
Is she human after all?
Captain Marvel was terrific in some spots and terrible in others. This is a film that was shoe-horned into the fabric of much better films that have come before it and will undoubtedly follow it. Carol Danvers is almost void of real personality.
She was emotionally dyslexic!
Here's the full review, please post your comments there: Captain Marvel
